Promoting Sustainable Fishing

• Sensitizing people in the fishing communities about the dangers of illegal fishing that includes catching and trading in immature fish
• Sensitizing fishermen about illegal fishing gears and the effects of these gears towards fish breeding and sustainability of the industry
• Gradual withdraw of illegal fishing gears after sensitization and other community outreach engagements
• Sensitizing fishermen about alternative fishing practices such as aquaculture and cage farming
• Working with government departments to sensitize the fishing communities about the fisheries policies and good fishing practices
• Working with development partners to provide free fishing gears to the local fishermen OR at a subsidized price
